Robertson to chair RBPE

Iain Robertson has taken over the chairman of Royal Bank of Scotland’s private equity group with effect from October 1. Robertson succeeds Johnny Cameron, who remains a non-executive director.

Robertson was also recently appointed chairman of corporate banking and financial markets at the bank. He was previously chief executive and had been since the division was created following the acquisition of NatWest Bank in March 2000. Cameron succeeded Robertson as chief executive of corporate banking and financial markets.

Mark Nicholls, managing director of Royal Bank Private Equity, said: “Iain’s appointment reflects the increasing importance of the Royal Bank’s private equity business and his keen interest in it. He will assist our investment and fund raising activities and may also take board seats on some of our larger investments.”
