A dozen of the 15 mega-funds in the market have secured some capital commitments so far in 2012. The 12 have collected a combined $54 billion. The latest entry in the category is Apollo Investment Fund VIII LP. Sister news service Reuters reported in mid-November that Boston-based Apollo Global Management LLC is expected to launch its next large buyout fund with a $12 billion target.
