Walsh jumps to Court Square as head of IR

Walsh is leading Court Square’s investor relations, fundraising and co-investment activities, according to a bio on the firm’s website. A partner, Walsh joined Court Square in July, the bio said.

Walsh spent more than six years at Lee Equity where he was also a partner, his LinkedIn profile said. He was head of IR and business development at Lee Equity.

Walsh is replacing John Kim, who left Court Square last January. Kim was head of investor relations, co-investment syndication and marketing at Court Square. He is now a partner at Kelso & Co.

New York-based Court Square was founded in 2006 by former members of Citigroup Venture Capital Equity Partners, including Bill Comfort. In 2013, the firm collected $3 billion for its third fund.

While Court Square has finished marketing for its latest buyout pool, Lee Equity is expected to come back to market. Thomas H. Lee, the former chairman and CEO of Thomas H. Lee Partners, launched Lee Equity Partners in 2006. The New York mid-market buyout firm targets sectors such as business services, consumer/retail and financial services, according to the firm’s website.

Lee Equity closed its debut fund, a $1.1 billion pool, in 2008. It is unclear if the firm is fundraising yet for its next pool. Lee Equity Partners Fund LP is producing an IRR of 5.99 percent and a 1.14x investment multiple, alternative assets data provider Bison said.

Executives at Court Square declined comment. Lee Equity did not respond to requests for comment.
